Ghanaian tomato traders caught up in alleged terrorist attack in Burkina Faso

The Government of Ghana has confirmed receiving disturbing reports that a truck carrying Ghanaian tomato traders was caught in a terrorist attack in Titao, Burkina Faso, on Saturday, February 14, 2026.

In a press release signed by the Minister for the Interior and National Security, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, authorities disclosed that the incident occurred while the traders were travelling within Burkina Faso.

According to the statement, the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso is currently liaising with Burkinabe officials to gather details about the attack and identify any Ghanaians who may have been affected.

Government assured the public that efforts are underway to obtain accurate information from the attack site and provide updates as soon as they become available.

While the number of casualties or injuries has not yet been confirmed, the incident underscores ongoing security concerns in parts of Burkina Faso, particularly in regions that have experienced repeated extremist violence in recent years.

The Ministry indicated that further details would be communicated to the public once verification processes are completed.

Families of traders and members of the Ghanaian community have been urged to remain calm as diplomatic and security channels work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
