Dec. polls: Akufo-Addo, Mahama to sign peace pact

The Presidential candidate of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, together with the Presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, will on Friday, December 4, 2020, sign a peace pact ahead of Monday, December 7th general elections.

6,073 junior Police Officers promoted

The Inspector-General of Police, James Oppong Boanuh, has promoted six thousand and seventy three (6,073) Junior Police Officers of various ranks.

This is in accordance with provisions of the Police Service Regulation 2012 (C.I.76).

Among those promoted are 657 Inspectors promoted to the rank of Chief Inspectors; 1,217 Sergeants promoted to the rank of Inspectors; 1,731 Corporals promoted to the rank of Sergeants and 2,464 Lance Corporals promoted as Corporals.

According to the Police Administration, the promotions take effect from December 1, 2020.

Four other officers of the junior rank whose promotions were withheld due to cases pending against them have also been restored to the ranks they are entitled to, making up the total of officers promoted.

Jail persons who take pictures of their ballot papers after voting – EC

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana is advocating for persons who took pictures of their ballot papers after voting for their preferred candidates in Tuesday’s Special Voting exercise, otherwise known as Early Voting, to be jailed.
