The incumbent Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, known in political circles as ‘Abronye DC’ has been re-elected.
He polled 173 votes to beat his main contender, Konlaabig Rasheed, who was the incumbent Regional Organiser of the party. Rasheed garnered 84 of the total valid votes cast.
263 delegates were expected to vote for 26 aspirants who were vying for ten (10) positions in the Bono Regional contest.
The contest which was held on Sunday, May 29, 2022, was initially halted for close to an hour following a mix-up that broke out when executives from three constituencies who had been injuncted by the Sunyani High Court from taking part in the elections were called out to vote.
The injuncted constituencies were Sunyani East, Dormaa Central and Jaman.
The injunction was secured by some aggrieved members of the party from the three constituencies. They were not satisfied with the way and manner the Regional Executives are elected.
