Is the Paramount Chief of Banda-Kabrono ‘Abronye’s spokesperson or NPP PRO? – Banda Ahenkro Youth questions

The youth of Banda-Ahenkro says they are at a loss why the Paramount Chief of Banda-Kabrono, Nana Sah Kwame Siniapem II, will jump to the defense of the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe Abronye, whom they have demanded to render unqualified apology to the Chief and people of Banda-Ahenkro after verbally attacking them.

They are wondering if the Paramount Chief of Banda-Kabrono has now become the spokesperson for Abronye or the Public Relations Officer for the NPP in the Bono region.

At a press conference to respond to the verbal attacks on the Chief and people of Banda-Ahenkro by the Paramount Chief of Banda-Kabrono, the youth said the sudden involvement of Nana Sah Kwame Siniapem II in their altercation with Abronye is needless and uncalled for, stressing that such attitude is reckless and does not encourage unity among the people.

They noted that they will continue to demand for justice in the murder of one Silas Wulo Chame of Banda-Ahenkro who was brutally murdered in front of the NPP’s Constituency Office in Kabrono.

Spokesperson for the youth of Banda-Ahenkro, Kennedy Sah, who addressed the press conference explained that Kwame Baffoe Abronye had on December 17, 2020, on Accra-based Oman FM insulted the Chief and people of Banda-Ahenkro that they are “murderers and cannibals” when he failed to substantiate his claim.

It was based on this insult that the Chief of Banda-Ahenkro demanded a retraction and apology from the Bono NPP Regional Chairman at a press conference held on December 22, 2020.

In that press conference, the Chief of Banda-Ahenkro also called for investigations to be conducted into the gruesome murder of Silas Wulo Chame and bring the perpetrators of that heinous crime to book.

Alas, they have taken aback with the sudden utterances made by the Paramount Chief of Banda-Kabrono who sought to defend Kwame Baffoe Abronye by denigrating the Chief and people of Banda-Ahenkro.

“Ladies and gentlemen of the media, assuming the Kabrono Chief was truly the Paramount Chief of Banda as he claimed in his Press conference to support Abronye’s insult without any justification or proof whatsoever against Banda-Ahenkro people, would it not have been an indictment on him as a Paramount chief to superintend over one of the towns in his Traditional Area whose people are “murderers and cannibals” for all these years but he failed to let the law take its course against them and he is been silently living with us for all these years until Abronye’s outburst? Did you also hear the Kabrono Chief, in trying hard to defend Abronye’s insult of Banda-Ahenkro people as “murderers and cannibals”, said that: “Banda-Ahenkro people had never allowed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to campaign in their town including the 2020 elections”? One may ask where from this infusion from the Kabrono Chief?” he quizzed.

To Sah, the youth of Banda-Ahenkro will continue to stay focus and call on Abronye to substantiate with proven evidence his claim that Banda-Ahenkro people are “murderers and cannibals” or retract and apologize unreservedly.

That notwithstanding, they are resolute in calling on the government and the security agencies as well as the National Peace Council and Civil Society Organizations to add their voices to their call for investigations, arrest and prosecution of the killers of Silas at Kabrono during the voter registration exercise.
