The Senior Minister, Mr. Yaw Osafo-Maafo has tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, announced this at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, July 7, 2020.
“Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo-Maafo has been informed that his sample taken has returned positive for COVID-19”, he announced.
However, he said Mr. Osafo-Maafo is receiving treatment from home and “in consonance with the transparency that we are bringing to Ghanaians, he has instructed that we inform the general public accordingly”.
The announcement of Mr. Osafo-Maafo’s case adds up to a number of government officials who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
On Saturday, July 4, 2020, President Akufo-Addo announced that he has been on self-isolation after a member within his close circle tested positive for the virus.
