Lightning kills two at Begoro

Lightning has struck two siblings, killing one instantly at Begoro in the Fanteakwa North District in the Eastern Region.

The victims are Selorm Bona, 16, and Vivian, 14.

They were reportedly struck by the lightning when they rushed out to pick ripped mango fruits that had dropped from a mango tree while raining.

Selorm was reported to have died instantly while Vivian also joined her ancestors upon arrival at the Begoro Government Hospital.

According to Wikepedia, a lightning strike or lightning bolt is an electric discharge between the atmosphere and the ground.

There are about 240,000 lightning strikes incidents around the world each year. According to the National Geographic, about 2,000 people are killed annually worldwide by lightning.
