Even though Ghana’s borders remain closed to human traffic until further notice, stranded Ghanaians abroad have been giving a special dispensation for their evacuation back to the country.
President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who announced this in his 10th update to the nation, Sunday, May 31, 2020, over measures put in place to contain the novel coronavirus, said beneficiaries of the evacuation exercise “will be subjected to mandatory quarantine and safety protocols” upon reaching Ghana.
The announcement follows two hundred and forty-one (241) Ghanaian deportees from Kuwait who arrived safely in the country on Saturday, May 23, 2020 amid the closure of the borders (air, sea, land) to human traffic as part of international travel restrictions under the West African nation’s COVID-19 Response Programme.
