Owners of James Town lands to construct GH₵1.8m housing facility

Owners of James Town, the Arde Nkpa Family, have announced the construction of a three-storey housing facility in the ancient fishing community.

The edifice will house family members who are currently in Ghana and those outside the country whenever they return.

The project estimated to cost GH₵1.8million is expected to be completed in ten months.

The magnificent edifice will boast of a 24 bedroom-apartment, a conference hall, and a library.

At a sod cutting ceremony in Accra on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, the Head of the Arde Nkpa Family, Daniel Nii Arde Nkpa said the family can no longer sit down and watch some of its members go through difficulties in securing descent accommodation for themselves.

He said in order to overcome those challenges, the family has decided to pull down the old dilapidated family house and construct the new edifice that will provide enough space to accommodate all.

“It’s even a shame to take a visitor to our family house because it didn’t bring any dignity to the family. So, we have decided that during our time, we have to pull down the old building and construct a new housing facility befitting enough for the family members”, he told journalists moments after cutting the sod for the commencement of the project.

The facility, the noted, will be fully connected with the internet with all the bedrooms fixed with air conditioners.

“This is a novelty in the Arde Nkpa Family and this is a legacy we want to leave behind”, he stressed.
