OSP freezes all assets of late Sir John frozen

All assets of the late Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Forestry Commission, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as ‘Sir John’, have been frozen by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

The move is part of the investigation the OSP has commenced into the acquisition of state lands and properties that were contained in the late Sir John’s will.

A leaked will of the late Sir John had some parcels of land at Achimota Forest Reserve and the Sakumono Ramsar site dashed to named persons in his will.

The will also had some huge sums of money in both his local and foreign accounts.

This triggered a public uproar, compelling the OSP to issue a statement on Thursday, May 26, 2022, to assure the public that it has commenced an investigation into the matter.

According to checks at the OSP, all assets of the late Sir John has been frozen, at least for now, pending the final determination of the matter.
