Fresh SHS students to start classes March 10 on single-track – Akufo-Addo announces

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has announced that fresh students yet to be enrolled into the various Senior High Schools (SHS) will start classes on March 10, 2021.

These new students, according to the President, will commence their secondary school education on a single-track academic calendar.

However, continuing SHS students, thus SHS 2 and SHS 3 students, will return to the classroom from January 18, 2021.

Continuing SHS 3, the President added, will also be on a single-track system just like those yet to be enrolled into the SHS as a result of the expansion of infrastructure at the various Senior High Schools.

“I must stress that SHS 3 students in all schools, like SHS 1 students, will no longer run the double track system. The expansion of infrastructure at the various Senior High Schools, over the last three years, has brought us to this favourable situation. However, the double track system will still be applicable to SHS 2 students in schools that are employing it”, he noted.

President Akufo-Addo revealed this on Sunday evening, January 3, 2021, in his 21st update to the nation on measures taken against the spread of the coronavirus.
