Watch: How Johnson Asiedu Nketiah battled it out with soldiers dispatched to Banda constituency

The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, on Sunday stormed Banda constituency in the Bono Region and battled it out with the military personnel following their refusal to allow some residents to register in the ongoing voters registration exercise.

Excerpts of the scene which has since gone viral on social media platforms shows the NDC Chief Scribe angrily exchanging words with the military personnel over why they’ve blocked a road to stop people loaded in mini trucks and some other vehicles from crossing over to access nearby registration centres.

It is unclear where the people were being bused from. However, some local residents say they people in those vehicles are settlers living along the banks of the Black Volta where the Bui Dam has been constructed.

The NDC has been complaining over attempts by the government and the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana for using the military to intimidate legitimate Ghanaians from registering on the basis that they are foreigners being bused from border towns into Ghana.
