The Ghana Education Service (GES) has reversed the ban it placed on some 13 students from writing the ongoing West African Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The action follows an intervention made by the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
The students were involved in various acts of indiscipline with some going to the extent of insulting the President after their expectations in some exam questions were dashed.
Their acts of indiscipline were captured on video which has since gone viral on social media with the Ghana Education Service (GES) stepping in to sanction them by dismissing and banning them from writing the remaining WASSCE.
The President, who was more concerned about the future of these 13 students, intervened by directing the Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh to engage the leadership of the Ghana Education Service to review their decision.
A statement issued by the Service said the students are permitted to write the remaining papers at examination centres in their respective schools.
But the GES maintained that the dismissal of the students from their respective schools still stands, are directed to immediately leave their various school compounds moments after writing the exams.
