The Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, is expected to be in Parliament on Monday, March 30, 2020, to brief Members on the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on the Ghanaian economy.
The briefing, www.politicoghana.com understands, will mainly focus on Government’s COVID-19 Alleviation Program that seeks to minimize the adverse impacts of the coronavirus on the local economy.
Mr. Ofori-Atta, per available information to this portal, will seek approval from the House to enable the government to implement the said COVID-19 Alleviation Program.
The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in his fourth address to the nation amidst the coronavirus pandemic, announced strategies to curb the spread of the virus as well as a relief package of at least GHS1billion for households and businesses, particularly, small and medium scale enterprises.
“The Minister of Finance has been directed by me to prepare, for approval by Parliament, a coronavirus Alleviation Program to address the disruption of our people, and to rescue and revitalize our industries”, the President noted.
