Election 2020: Results indicate NPP, NDC must work together in Parliament – Akufo-Addo

The President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has said that the outcome of the 2020 Parliamentary election is a clear indication that Ghanaians want both the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) to work together in Parliament for the growth of the country.

Delivering his acceptance speech moments after being declared President-elect in the 2020 Presidential poll by the Returning Officer, Jean Mensa, in Accra on Wednesday, December 9, 2020, Mr. Akufo-Addo urged all to do away with their difference and unite to ensure that Ghana is placed at where it belongs in the global community.

“The period for campaigning is over. The election has been decided. The Ghanaian people through the results have made it loud and clear that the two parties, the NPP and NDC must work together, especially, in Parliament for the good of the country. Now is the time for each and every one of us, irrespective of our political affiliation, to unite, join hands, stand shoulder to shoulder, and work hard to place Ghana where she deserves to be – a prosperous and dynamic member of the global community making our own unique contribution to the growth of world civilization”, he noted.
