Education Minister discharged from UGMC COVID-19 isolation centre

The Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has been discharged from the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC). The facility was where he was detained last week while he awaited for his COVID-19 test results.

A statement signed by his Press Secretary, Rodney Nkrumah-Boateng, announced the release of the Education Minister, further noting that he will continue to be monitored.

“The Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, announces that he has been discharged from the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) in Accra with a positive rapid antibody test result and will be further monitored. He is currently at home resting and would like to thank all those who wished him well during his time in hospital”, the statement in part read.

This comes after the Minister of Regional Reorganization and Development, Dan Botwe was also discharged last Saturday after being hospitalized at the University of Ghana Medical Centre for COVID-19 treatment.
