EC pegs Presidential, Parliamentary nomination forms at GH₵100k and GH₵10k

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has taken a decision to charge GH₵100,000.00 and GH₵10,000.00 respectively for its Presidential and Parliamentary nominations forms for the December 7, 2020 general elections.

At a press briefing on Monday, September 14, 2020, in Accra, the electoral management body said the candidates after purchasing the forms are required to submit them from October 5 to 9, 2020, between the hours of 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm each day.

The nomination forms, the Commission added, could be accessed on its website.

To comply with the COVID-19 protocols, candidates may be accompanied by only five (5) of their supporters when submitting the forms to the Commission.

A total of 29 political parties are in the EC’s books this year but it is not clear whether all the parties will file presidential and parliamentary candidates for the upcoming polls.
