COVID-19 takes life of a surgeon at Trust Hospital

A consultant surgeon at The Trust Hospital in Osu, Accra, has passed on after contracting the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) disease, officials of the hospital have announced.

Dr. Richard Kisser, according to the hospital officials, died on Thursday, July 2, 2020.

“We regret to inform all staff of the passing of our consultant surgeon, Dr. Richard Kisser. The sad event occurred on Thursday, July 2, 2020 at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) where he was receiving treatment for COVID-19 complications. May his soul rest in perfect peace”, a statement from the hospital in part read.

The death of Dr. Kisser adds up to numerous health professionals who have dies as a result of contracting COVID-19.

In April, 2020, the Rector of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons, Prof. Jacob Plange-Rhule was reported dead at the UGMC after battling the novel Coronavirus disease.
