Court grants pastor who threatened EC Chair’s life GH¢100k bail

The pastor, Apostle Kwabena Adjei, who allegedly threatened the life of the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, (EC) of Ghana, Mrs Jean Mensa, has been granted a GH¢100, 000.00 bail by an Accra Circuit Court.

He had been charged among other things, threat of death, contrary to Section 75 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace and possession of narcotic drugs.

However, he pleaded not guilty to all the charges brought against him.

His lawyers, at a court sitting on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, made a strong case for his bail despite the prosecution’s stance against such a request.

The presiding Judge, after listening to the arguments from both sides, granted the pastor a GH¢100,000.00 bail in addition to producing three sureties of Public servants not earning less than GH¢2,000.

The case was then adjourned to July 21, 2020.
