COCOBOD shuts down as some staff members test positive for COVID-19

The management of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has announced that some of its staff members have tested positive for the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19).

The cases were recorded in an ongoing mass testing exercise the state institution is embarking on.

As a result of the recorded positive cases, the Head Offices of (Corporate, Subsidiaries/Division) COCOBOD will be temporary shut down for fumigation exercise.

COCOBOD in a statement dated July 6, 2020, and signed by its Chief Executive Officer, Joseph Boahen Aidoo, said the closure of its offices takes effect on Wednesday, July 8 to Friday, July 10, 2020.

“The fumigation exercise will ensure that the safety of other staff will not be compromised once work resumes on Monday, July 13, 2020”, the statement in part read.

According to the state institution, all necessary arrangements have been made for the affected staff to receive the necessary medical attention, further noting that contact tracing is currently ongoing to enforce quarantine and isolation measures, wherever application of members
/families who have been in contact with such staff.

“We wish to assure the general public that during the period of closed down that normal work will continue without any destruction as staff have been equipped with the necessary working tools to be able to work remotely from their homes”, the statement assured.
