Accra Girls SHS records 50 new cases of COVID-19

The Accra Girls Senior High School, has recorded 50 new positive cases of the novel coronavirus, Accra-based TV 3 has reported.

This follows a mass testing exercise of all the students after six of them a fortnight ago tested positive of the virus.

This was after some students of the school showed symptoms of the virus and were isolated in the school’s sickbay on Monday, June 29, 2020.

The incident prompted the school authorities to quickly get in touch with health officials from the Ayawaso North directorate to intervene.

COVID-19 tests were subsequently run on 11 students with six of them testing positive.

They were on Saturday, July 4, sent to the Ga East Municipal Hospital for treatment.

The school has now 56 confirmed positive cases of the virus.
